Looking Forward Together
Community Hospice is an organization with a lot of heart! At the core of our work is the desire to make difficult times better, with a commitment to treating the dying process as a part of life that deserves dignity and love. This is evident in the dedication of our staff, Board of Directors, Advisory Council, Friends of Community Hospice members, and the volunteers who give us their time and talent. It is also unmistakable in the many donors, companies, foundations, granting organizations, and community medical partners that believe in Community Hospice and give so generously to support our compassionate mission.
While we have navigated through some challenging times, we have a strong foundation that reinforces our commitment to the communities we serve. The pandemic showed us what has always been the driving force of this organization for over 40 years – our caregivers who are committed to providing the highest quality patient care. Like every other business, there is no aspect of our organization that has not been affected by the COVID-19 public health crisis these past two years. However, in the face of incredible barriers, the Community Hospice family remained steadfast in providing exceptional care and upholding our mission “to embrace individuals and their families facing life-changing journeys, enhancing quality of life for all”.
As we continue to adjust to the ever-changing healthcare climate, this year we look to the future. We envision Community Hospice as a Provider for Excellence that meets individual care and system needs for the coming decades, ensuring a good quality of life for more people facing their end-of-life journey and their caregivers. We aim to foster a greater continuity of palliative care, with increased collaboration and capacity across the healthcare system. With expanded hospice and community-based programs and services, and an evidence-based and compassionate approach to whole person care, we will continue to honor the values and the heartfelt wishes of more people at the end of life.
If this past year is any indication of the Community Hospice team’s ability to rise to any challenge – we will get there! I am proud and honored to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Community Hospice. I look forward to the future and the innovative ways we will address the needs of our communities. We are poised to embrace the challenges and opportunities of 2023, to grow to meet the ever-changing needs, and move forward together.
